YBD American Chocolate Buttercream

This recipe makes enough to fill and ice one ten inch cake


What you need.....


1 and 1/2 lbs. unsalted butter (room temperature)

1/2 cup vegetable shortening

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (sifted)

1 and 1/2 cups confectioners sugar (sifted)

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1 tsp. salt


How to make this.....



  1. Place all ingredients in a stand mixer fitted with the whip attachment.

  2. Mix on low until fully incorporated.

  3. Turn to medium high speed and mix. until light and fluffy.
